Tom is a practicing Paramedic Clinical Team Leader for a private ambulance provider on NHS contacts and maintains NHS work for the London Ambulance Service. Tom teaches First Aid, Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Manual Handling, Fire Safety, ILS & FREC. Tom has years of experience teaching both in the vocational environment and work place setting and hold his L3 AET, AVRA & CAVA. Additionally Tom has undertaken a range of Masters Level Modules giving him additional skills and qualification in clinical practice and clinical supervision. |

• Describe anaphylaxis

• Describe life threatening problem with the: Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability (Neurological status, Exposure (Skin and mucosal changes)
• Conduct an initial assessment using the ABCDE approach
• Identify key features of adrenaline-auto injectors
• Demonstrate a recovery position
• Demonstrate resuscitation for adult and/or child
• Recognise the need to use an auto-injector
• Prepare medication for administration during anaphylaxis treatment
• Demonstrate the safe use of an adrenaline auto-injector using a training device
• Safely dispose of sharps according to agreed ways of working
• Handover the casualty to a medical professional

FREC Level 3 provides the emergency responder with an enhanced level of medical capability to deal with a casualty in a trauma or medical emergency. The course focuses on the provision of effective trauma and medical management in all environments and industries.

The FREC Level 4 Course benefits learners by enabling them to attain the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of prehospital emergency and urgent situations. This course is designed as the next step for those who have completed the QA Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (RQF).

The Immediate Life Support Course (ILS) by Qualsafe is required to keep your First Response Emergency Care FREC 4 or Safe Administration of Lifesaving Medication qualification valid. This course can also be used by Health Care Professional staff to revalidate their ILS requirement. It is ideal for doctors surgeries and nursing staff, along with event medical staff needing to keep their FREC 4 qualification valid.
2 Days
During the course, you will learn about the common types of Lifesaving Medication and their potential side effects. You will also learn how to determine a patient’s condition and how to assess, monitor, and review the effects of medication once it has been administered. Successful learners will leave the course equipped with all of the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to administer lifesaving medication safely and effectively in a Pre-Hospital environment.
Candidates must be employed by a CQC registered company and have successfully completed the First Response Emergency Care Level 4 or an equivalent qualification
